Minutes: President Rogers announced that the remodeling of the Senate Office has been completed and the conference room is now available for committee meetings. Scheduling may be made with the secretary, whose hours are 10:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday -- The Qualified Admissions standards adopted by the Board of Regents -- President Rogers reported on the history and cur.rent status of the assessment issue. The Senate Executive Committee has appointed an Ad Hoc committee on Assessment. -- President Rogers presented the following statement concerning compensation for the Faculty Senate President during the summer: The University will agree to provide the equivalent of three credit hours of summer compensation for the Senate President in support of his/her activities on behalf of the University.-- Dr. Anderson, advisor to The Sunflower for ten years, gave the following reasons for the proposal: 1. Such a paper would impro~e the Journalism Department as a whole. 2. It would give more students experience on a newspaper, which would be beneficial to them in getting a job later. 3. It would create a more professional newspaper because the staff would have experienced faculty working with them.
