Systems and methods for augmented reality visual inspections
(United States Patent and Trademark Office, 2023-12-05) Seneviratne, Waruna P.; Tomblin, John S.; Pini, Christopher
An augmented reality visualization system is disclosed for viewing non-destructive inspection (NDI) data of a component. The system comprises a component camera configured to capture a real time image of the component, a component display configured to display an AR image of the component, and an AR controller including an augmented reality processor and a non-transitory tangible storage medium. The storage medium includes processor-executable instructions for controlling the AR processor when the instructions are executed by the AR processor. The instructions access the NDI data of the component and implement a component AR engine to generate the AR image in real time by overlaying the NDI data on the real time image. The AR engine is configured to detect one or more three-dimensional (3D) features of the component in the real-time image and generate the AR image based on the detected one or more features.

Slip-Resistance Patch for Oral Devices with Tether for Improved Connection Strength
(United States Patent and Trademark Office, 2023-12-14) VanRavenhorst-Bell, Heidi A.; Patterson, Jeremy A.
A slip-resistant patch for a tongue bulb employs a planar body configured to conform to a surface of the tongue bulb. The planar body has a first major surface and an opposing second major surface. The first major surface is textured and the second major surface is adhesive. The textured material is configured to be positioned on a surface of an oral cavity and maintain position on the surface of the oral cavity throughout lingual movement within the oral cavity. The adhesive material is of a pressure sensitive material and being configured to adhere to the surface of the tongue bulb. At least one tether extends from the planar body along the perimeter portion. The at least one tether is configured to be wrapped around a stem of the tongue bulb for securing the slip-resistant patch to the tongue bulb.

    Rapid setting composite article
(United States Patent and Trademark Office, 2024-01-09) Tomblin, John S.; Aldag, Thomas; McCarvill, William T.; Reuter, Kimberly Marie; White, Joel D.; Meyer, Andrea C.
Methods of using fiber-reinforced composite articles useful in supporting or immobilizing an injured body part is disclosed. The composite is a multi-layer, flexible precursor including fiber reinforcement plies, which can be rapidly cured into a rigid body using a thermosetting resin. Methods of making and using the same are also disclosed, along with kits containing such composite articles.

    Endotracheal tube retainer
(United States Patent and Trademark Office, 2023-12-21) Ansari, Mohammed A.; White, Joel D.
The present disclosure provides an endotracheal tube retainer for retaining an endotracheal tube. The endotracheal tube retainer has a clip to be supported on a head such that the clip is spaced apart in front of a mouth and is adjustable between an open configuration and a closed configuration. In the closed configuration, the clip defines a tube retention channel that may receive the endotracheal tube such that the clip grips the endotracheal tube to retain it in the clip. The open configuration releases the endotracheal tube such that the endotracheal tube is movable relative to the clip. The clip can be equipped with primary and secondary retention features for holding the clip closed. The clip can be opened and closed by one-handed operation. The retainer has a stabilizer extension used for stabilizing the endotracheal tube during one-handed operation of the clip.

Robotic systems for laying out wiring harnesses and other types of line harnesses
(United States Patent and Trademark Office, 2023-11-21) Brown, Brian; Wescott, Michael; VanPelt, Alexander
A robotic system for laying out a specified wiring harness. A robotic arm is configured to arrange a plurality of wire segments along the harness support surface. A system controller is configured to direct the robotic arm to arrange each of the plurality of wire segments on the harness support surface along a specified wire route. A preparation device can label one or both ends of each wire segment as they are being laid out on the support surface. The labeler can automatically apply adhesive labels as flags at selected locations along the length of the wire segment. In a method of making a wiring harness, the robotic arm positions pins on a harness support surface to define wire routes and then arranges at least one wire segment on the harness support surface along each of the wire routes.
