Abstract

This presentation describes the digitization, presentation and preservation of the Early Sedgwick County Township Maps, a project undergoing in Special Collections and University Archives at Wichita State University Libraries. It covers the technical infrastructure of this project, the investigation of various imaging software, the implementation of freeware Zoomify EZ, the utilization of Dublin Core Metadata Standard and the experiment on JPEG2000, an image compression standard. It shows how libraries can use minimal resources to create an imaging database and its web presentation.
