Abstract
Nordic walking is an outdoor activity using specially-designed poles for the purpose of activating the upper body while walking. The poles are used to push against the ground with each stride. Previous studies found that although Nordic walking was performed at a slower pace than regular walking without poles, it resulted in a higher heart rate and higher oxygen consumption.
