    Abstract
This paper presents the effect of direct load control and residential PV system during peak demand events. Load was controlled via scheduling HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioner) shut off cycle and penetrating PV at residential level. Cost benefit analysis were performed to evaluate the profitability of residential PV investment and direct load control program. These results will help guide utilities that are using demand response for peak reduction, and should help increase consumer participation in such programs.
