    Abstract
Caregiving by adult children to older parents is described. Sons and daughters generally provide different types and amounts of care, as well as receiving different amounts and types of support from others. Variations exist by race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and a number of other characteristics as well. More factors affect the provision of care by children than by spouses. Consequences and rewards for children are also different than for spouses.
