    Abstract
Although electric propulsion systems have been used in deep space missions for performing interplanetary transfers, their use has primarily been restricted to station-keeping purposes for Earth-orbiting satellites. Geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO) satellites have mostly used chemical thrusters to transfer to GEO from an initial orbit into which it is launched by an appropriate launch vehicle.
