Transcendent capriccio for wind ensemble and solo piano
Abstract
This composition focuses on the concerto form and the freeness found within the caprccio. The work establishes a defined role for
the wind ensemble and the piano and they interact and evolve through the piece. In addition I focused on expanding the sounds and
colors in both the ensemble and the piano.
Juxtaposing contrasting emotional states was a key factor in this work and allowing these states to dictate the course of the piece.
