Abstract

African Americans are two times more likely than non-Hispanic whites to have peripheral artery disease (PAD) -- atherosclerosis of the abdominal aorta and arteries of the lower extremities. Walking distance is a commonly measured outcome among patients with PAD but less is known about the factors associated with this outcome among African Americans with PAD. We sought to determine the risk factors associated with walking distance among a cohort of African Americans with PAD.
