Abstract
This problem has been selected to give some knowledge of the progress and development of the Negro Schools in the city of Wichita from the time of their incipiency in 1912 up to the present time. In the future, this record may be of some value to one who wishes to know something of the origin of Negro Schools in Wichita and to trace their growth and development. To better understand and appreciate this, it is necessary to have some knowledge of the historical background which underlies the establishment of Elementary Schools in the State of Kansas.
