Abstract
Adhesion and tensile strength measurements may be made by spinning rotors plated with thin films until the centrifugal fields produced cause the films to fly off of the rotors. The construction of a vacuum ultra-centrifuge for producing high centrifugal fields and techniques of its use in the measurement of adhesion are discussed. Some preliminary results of measurements of adhesion between thin copper films and steel rotors are also included.
