Abstract
A mapping system, implemented on a ZENITH Z-100 microcomputer, uses as a basis commercially and publicly available software. Requisite data either can be input interactively from the keyboard using any compatible word-processing or text-editing program or extracted from a dBASE II archival file. X-Y coordinates are computed using a published program written originally in FORTRAN II. The gridding program, published as a FORTRAN IV program, uses a minimum curvature algorithm to interpolate values for contouring. The screen graphics contouring algorithm, written in BASIC was published in BYTE magazine in 1983. The system is menu-driven, will produce and display structure contour maps, and incorporates the capability to generate and map trend-surface and residual values up to fourth degree. Future developments include the generation of commands to drive a standard X-Y plotter. © 1986. © 2015 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
