Abstract
A parallel study of the ligand 4,5-diazafluorenone reactivity in the presence and absence of ruthenium(II) ion revealed that the reaction pathway of the ligand 4,5-diazafluoren-9-one with aminopyridine can be altered from the normal Schiff-base reaction to an unusual ring opening reaction upon its coordination to ruthenium(II) ion.
