'Coleman Week'' celebration of W.C. Coleman's 80th birthday and the Coleman Company's 50th anniversary

COLEMAN CUTS A CAKE--while several hundred well-wishing employees looked on, W.C. Coleman, founder-president of the 50-year-old Coleman Company, Inc. of Wichita, Kansas, cuts special birthday cake. Lighted by 80 Coleman lanterns, one for each of his 80 years, Coleman joked with his employees as he passed the first slice to Mrs. Lester Shook, wife of a Coleman toolmaker. The cake highlighted one of five parties arranged for him by his employees. Thousands of Wichitans took part in ''Coleman Week,'' May 14-20, 1950 to honor the inventor, industrialist and civic and church leader who in 50 years ran a small lamp rental service into a multi-million dollar manufacturing company with plants in both the United States and Canada.
