Abstract
The purpose of this experiment is to provide valuable experimental information concerning general spelling ability. The ultimate goal is to construct and standardize a spelling measurement suitable for use in selection and training of business personnel. Therefore, the outcome of this experiment will determine, to a great extent, how that standardization will be carried out at a later date. It is the intention of the thesis to experimentally verify or reject certain hypotheses concerning spelling ability and to investigate specific problems stated later in the paper. Since very little experimental literature is available on this topic, the author leans heavily on general information provided by spelling and testing authorities.
