Description
The top image shows a drawing of William Greiffenstein, one of the founders of Wichita, Kansas. Handwritten below the drawing is the caption 'Dutch Bill Griffenstein [sic].' The bottom image shows a drawing of his ranch buildings, two horsedrawn carriages, an American flag, trees, and human and animal figures at a distance. There is also a portrait of Greiffenstein attached to this drawing. Affixed to the back are two photographs by an unidentified photographer. At the top is a partial photograph of men and canoes and a wooden building near a riverbank surrounded by trees. At the bottom is a photograph of two men and a horse in front of a cabin with various skulls on the ground. Taylor was an American artist known for his skill and the professional connections he developed with military and government personnel.
