Abstract
This thesis is written to present a recent trend in the work
of the younger generation of American artists. References are made
throughout the thesis to the art of the orient in an attempt to give
the reader a better insight into these recant works of art.
In compiling material for this thesis the vastness of Oriental
art soon became apparent. Even the art of China stems from a culture which is possibly as old as that or Ancient Egypt. I have not
attempted to present all aspects of Chinese art but have selected
facets which I felt pertinent. Nor have I done extensive research
into the Chinese philosophies for they in themselves could form the
basis for a separate thesis.
