The work of healing soldiers continued after the war's end in 1918. Shell-shocked soldiers returning from the front needed help with adapting to life back in the United States. ''Carry On'' was the official publication of the Surgeon General Office's Reconstruction Division. It includes articles and editorials on a wide range of topics, including nervous disorders, physical rehabilitation, entertaining the sick and wounded, and more.
