Left, Wichita State sophomore Devin Carter said he participated in the evernt to support all of the strong women in his life and what they have gone through. Walk-a-Mile was hosted by the Student Activities Council and the Interfraternity Council. p. 1 -- Government and hotel officials joined Wichita State University in breaking ground last Thursday at the planned site of a Hyatt Place Hotel on 19th Street, just west of Oliver Street. Speakers at the event included County Commissioner Lacey Cruse and City Councilman Brandon Johnson. A spokesperson for Lodging One Hospitality, the management group behind the hotel, said it will be the first to follow a new design. It is expected to be open for occupancy in summer 2020. p. 2 -- Sophomore Peace Mwamunyange is currently a member of the 170th Company in the Kansas Army National Guard. Mwamunyange said she hopes to serve her country by becoming a respected officer. p. 2 -- Tom Shine, KMUW director of news and public affairs, poses for a photo with General Manager Debra Fraser.
