Abstract
This study presents the exact analytical solution for the diffraction of H-polarized (Transverse Electric) electromagnetic waves by a finite, harmonically oscillating strip present in an anisotropic cold plasma environment. The direction-dependent wave propagation, Doppler-like frequency shifts induced by boundary motion, and polarization-selective scattering together make it a complex phenomenon. A generalized Wiener–Hopf technique that incorporating spatiotemporal Fourier transforms and advanced kernel factorization resolved the problem. The analytic solution explicitly accounts for velocity-dependent boundary conditions and anisotropy-induced birefringence. Main results show that plate oscillation amplifies resonance peaks by 40-60% at critical observation angles (θ=π/2) through Doppler-like harmonic generation and plasma anisotropy elongates wavelengths by approximately 18% compared to isotropic media. Furthermore, the longer plates (l>20 m) enhance forward scattering by over 30% in anisotropic environments due to increased boundary-wave interactions. These results provide a foundational framework for understanding dynamic wave–matter interactions in dispersive media. The wave profile sensitivity due to different parameters have direct implications for ionospheric signal propagation and plasma-based wave control devices. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd.
