Description
Photographic postcard of the "Woolaroc," a Travel Air 5000 monoplane aircraft built in Wichita, Kansas, likely at Oakland Municipal Airport, starting point of Dole Air Race. Flown by Hollywood stunt pilot Arthur C. Goebel and Lt. (j.g.) William Virginius Davis, Jr. of the U.S. Navy, it successfully arrived in Honolulu after a flight of 26 hours and 17 minutes, winning the $25,000 prize for first place. Handwritten on front: "Art Goebel. 1st Prize."
