Abstract
Using collage as the primary medium of expression, with assemblage-sculpture .and oil painting as secondary media, I have attempted to realize a personal type of organized spontaneity. Through the direct application of pasted materials and the resulting freedom, I have found the means to counteract a natural inclination for a too- deliberate formality of construction. Similarly, in assemblage, the use of predominantly preformed shapes allows me to adapt their original formality into a more dynamic and meaningful composition. The form within my painting is derived largely from my sculptures and collages.
