Abstract
A grow-your-own model for identi fying administrators is being favored in one midwestern city. As the significance of the princi palship has been verified by dis trict experience, and as the litera ture on research reflects the importance of the principal as instructional leader, the old “I- can-tell-from-an-interview” relia bility is in question. © 1990, Sage Publications.
