Abstract
In my graduate studies in painting I have been concerned with a theme developed from the social milieu of the Southwest. This theme is concerned with the juxtaposition of a continuing antiquity, twentieth century technology, the coexistence of distinct Indian, Spanish, and Anglo communities, and the overwhelmingly beautiful landscape. In my painting I want content; I have insisted on a symbolic narrative in an idiom comprehensible to contemporary society. I propose to have an exhibition of the work done during my graduate studies which would show the development of this theme.
