Description
This mail order course begins with grandiloquent claims: "There is not one point about Hypnotism but what I am familiar with, and I repeat that if my instructions are carefully followed there is no possibility of failure" (p. 1). The booklet discusses in detail techniques for inducing hypnotic trances and for manipulating hypnotized subjects through suggestion. Fundamentally, however, this is a self-improvement book. If a commanding manner is cultivated, Harraden tells his reader, "You will use it throughout life to secure your aims and purposes by impressing your opinions upon others and changing their convictions" (p. 3).
