Description
This photo shows Josephine Pace Brown and her husband, Dr. Val Brown, at an AKA regional conference in Kansas City. Pace Brown was the first African American to serve on the Wichita School Board and founded ARISE, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the legacy of spirituals.
