| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study is to locate as much. of the already published materials on periodontal disease and arthritis as possible to see if some type of relationship exists between the two. There was no laboratory investigation conducted; only a survey of the literature was done. This survey of the literature shows that many similarities exist between arthritis and periodontal disease. A gradual body of deterioration accompanying these conditions seems to affect one's resistance to infection which is a key step in the process of deterioration. It appears that neither arthritis nor periodontal disease causes the other, but evidence of the previous investigations leads to the conclusion that a common condition or link exists between the two~ | en |
