Studies in Medieval and Renaissance Teaching (SMART) is a journal of essays on medieval and Renaissance teaching published twice a year at Wichita State University in conjunction with the Committee on Centers and Regional Associations (CARA) of the Medieval Academy of America and the Teaching the Middle Ages annual conferences. The articles and reviews published in SMART represent the views of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent those of the editorial staff, advisory board, or financial supporters, and these parties assume no legal responsibility for the published materials.

SMART publishes essays on topics in both medieval and Renaissance studies that have a pedagogical focus. In keeping with our desire to foster the teaching, in diverse settings, of medieval and Renaissance culture, we wish to serve a readership whose interests are both practical and scholarly. Single papers as well as groups of articles focusing on a particular theme are welcome.
