Sai Deng is the Assistant Professor and Metadata Catalog Librarian at Wichita State University Libraries. She received her M.L.S. from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC GSLIS) in 2005. She worked for Preserving Electronic Publications and Illinois Government Documents Initiative when she was a research assistant at UIUC GSLIS. Prior to coming to the U.S, she was an editor for the Commercial Press International and a newsletter editor for the Sanlian Joint Publishing in Beijing, China.
Her scholarly interests are focused on digital library, institutional repository, metadata creation, mapping and transformation, new approaches and technologies to improve access to library data and enhance user experiences, and interface and usability design of library websites and the Online Public Access Catalog. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals including New Library World, OCLC Systems & Services, the Journal of Library Metadata and Chinese Librarianship: an International Electronic Journal. She served on ALA ALCTS and CALA Committees such as the ALCTS Metadata Interest Group and the CALA Publication Committee. She is currently a member of the ALCTS International Relations Committee and the CALA Newsletter Co-Editor.
